How to Play Patang Panga
Rooftop kite duels. Pull, release, cut the rival manjha. Kai po che!
Patang Panga is a kite-fighting game where the string is the whole game. Your line is a 25-node rope from a spool on the parapet to a kite in the wind. Hold to reel in: the line goes taut, the kite dives, and your manjha saws faster where it crosses the rival's. Release for slack: the kite drifts up and your line becomes hard to cut. Drag to walk your spool so the crossing happens where you want.
It is a five-rung ladder against bots with personalities: Chintu the wild colony kid, Bablu Bhai who always pulls, Dheel Didi who waits for your mistake, Kheenchu Kaka, and Ustad Salim who reads your thumb. Each rung is best of three kites. Holding too long frays your own line until it snaps, so aggression loses to timing. After 85 seconds a storm pushes the kites together.
Controls
- Touch: hold anywhere to kheench (tension the line); let go for dheel (slack).
- Touch: drag left or right while holding to walk your spool along the parapet.
- Desktop: hold Space, Up Arrow or W to kheench; Left and Right Arrows or A and D to walk.
- The line brightens and frays as overtension builds; sparks show where lines cross.
How to play, step by step
- Tap Fly It to start at Rung 1 against Chintu, or resume from your best rung.
- Give dheel first so your kite climbs and you can see where the wind pushes it.
- Walk your spool so your line drifts across the rival's. Crossing is where cutting happens.
- When lines cross, kheench. The tauter, faster line saws the slacker one.
- Watch the fray warning and release before the grace period ends, or your own line snaps.
- Cut the rival twice to win the rung and its coins. Lose two kites and you drop off the ladder.
Rules and scoring
- Each rung is best of 3 kites. Cutting damage scales with the square of line tension times manjha strength.
- Overtension fray: a line held at full kheench builds damage, faster while crossed, and snaps after a 1.2-second grace as a self-cut.
- Storm at 85 seconds raises the damage multiplier and pushes both kites toward centre; at 150 seconds the round is forced to resolve.
- Coins per rung: Chintu 20, Bablu Bhai 28, Dheel Didi 36, Kheenchu Kaka 44, Ustad Salim 60. Chemical Manjha (ad) cuts 50 percent faster for one match.
Tips to score higher
- Pulse the kheench: hold a second, release half a second. You keep cutting power while resetting the fray timer.
- Never hold through the fray warning when the other kite is not crossing you.
- Against kheenchu bots, give dheel when they pull so their line frays, then kheench when they ease off.
- Against Dheel Didi, attack in short bursts; she punishes long holds.
- Ustad Salim commits the instant you let go, so release only once your line is out of the crossing.
- Save Chemical Manjha for Rung 4 or 5, where the bots make fewest mistakes.
Modes and challenges
- Five-rung ladder of best-of-3 kite duels against bots of rising skill.
- Ad continue on the same rung after a loss, or restart from Rung 1.
- Daily login streak coins on the home screen and a leaderboard for total cuts per climb.
Frequently asked questions
Why did my line snap when nobody cut it?
Overtension fray. Holding at full kheench past a short grace period breaks the line by itself. Release to reset it.
How do I make the lines cross?
Drag to walk your spool so your line drifts across the rival's. Slack lines also blow with the wind into position.
What does the storm do?
After 85 seconds damage climbs and both kites are nudged to the centre. At 150 seconds the round is forced to finish.
Do I keep progress after a loss?
Your best rung is saved and Fly It resumes from it. You can also watch an ad to stay on the current rung.
