How to Play Super Sudoku
Daily puzzles, notes, hints. Easy to hard.
Super Sudoku is the classic 9x9 number puzzle with a daily challenge built in. Every row, column and 3x3 box must contain the digits 1 to 9 exactly once. You start with some cells already filled (40 on easy, 32 on medium, 26 on hard) and work out the rest by logic, never by guessing. A timer runs from the moment the grid appears.
This version adds a few things regular players will appreciate: a notes mode for pencil marks, a free technique tip that points you to the next naked or hidden single instead of solving it for you, and a daily puzzle that is the same for everyone at your difficulty. Three wrong entries end the game, so it rewards careful play, not speed alone.
Controls
- Touch: tap a cell, then tap a number on the pad.
- Desktop: click a cell, move with arrow keys, type 1 to 9.
- Notes: tap Notes or press N to enter pencil marks.
- Erase: tap Erase, or press Backspace or Delete.
- Undo: tap Undo, or press Z or U.
How to play, step by step
- Choose Easy, Medium or Hard, then DAILY PUZZLE or RANDOM PUZZLE.
- Tap an empty cell; its row, column and box highlight, along with every copy of the selected number.
- Find a cell where only one digit fits, or a digit with only one place left in a unit, and enter it.
- Correct entries flash; wrong ones turn red and count as a mistake.
- Use Notes for candidates; they are cleared automatically when you place a correct number nearby.
- Stuck? Tap Tip for a free pointer, or Hint to reveal a cell. Fill the grid to finish.
Rules and scoring
- Each row, column and 3x3 box must hold 1 to 9 with no repeats.
- Three mistakes end the puzzle. Given numbers cannot be changed.
- Coins: 100 easy, 200 medium, 350 hard, plus 150 for daily, minus 50 per hint (minimum 20).
- Score: 1000, 1600 or 2400 base by difficulty, plus 300 for daily, minus seconds, 30 per mistake and 60 per hint.
- A hint costs a Hint item or 100 coins; with neither, a rewarded ad is offered.
- Best time per difficulty is saved; daily solves on consecutive days build a streak.
Tips to score higher
- Use the pad counters: each button shows how many of that digit are missing. Digits with one or two left are quickest to place.
- Tap a filled number to highlight all copies, then scan the boxes that still lack it.
- Use the free Tip before a paid Hint. It points to a naked single or names the unit where a digit has one home.
- On Hard, pencil marks are essential and maintain themselves as you place numbers.
- Do the daily first; it pays 150 extra coins and keeps the streak, and random puzzles do not count.
Modes and challenges
- Daily Puzzle: one seeded grid per day per difficulty, the same for every player. Completing it marks the day done and extends your streak.
- Random Puzzle: unlimited freshly generated grids at your chosen difficulty.
- Difficulty levels: Easy (40 givens), Medium (32 givens), Hard (26 givens), each with its own best-time record.
Frequently asked questions
Why did my game end suddenly?
You made three mistakes, shown by the cross counter next to the timer. Test candidates in Notes mode instead.
What is the difference between Tip and Hint?
Tip is free and only teaches by pointing to a single. Hint fills a correct cell and costs an item or 100 coins, lowering your reward.
Is the daily puzzle the same for my friends?
Yes, at the same difficulty. The grid is generated from the date, so times are directly comparable.
Do random puzzles affect my streak?
No. Only daily solves on consecutive calendar days count; a missed day resets the streak.
