How to Play Karma Climb
Snakes and Ladders, but you craft your own dice. Climb to 100.
Karma Climb is Snakes and Ladders where you craft the die. You still roll across a 100-square board, but you see your next three rolls in advance, and at four shrine squares you swap plain number faces for special ones: Fang, Jugaad, Leap, Lakshmi and Karma. Landing on a snake's mouth does not slide you down automatically; it starts a fight with three strikes to slay it.
It is a solo game for anyone who loved the board version but wanted decisions. Every board is generated from a seed with six to seven named snakes, five ladders and a guardian near the top, and the daily board is shared by everyone. Hearts are your life: a lost fight bites one or two, and running out means being swallowed. Reach 100 for Moksha.
Controls
- Tap Roll to take the next die face shown in the Next strip.
- With a Jugaad face, tap 1, 2 or 3 to choose your move.
- At a shrine, tap a blessing card, then tap the die face it replaces, or skip.
- In a fight, tap Strike; green preview faces hit, red ones miss.
How to play, step by step
- Choose Daily Climb (one shared board, one try) or Free Climb (a fresh board every run).
- Read the Next strip showing your next three faces and plan where each lands before rolling.
- Ladders carry you up; shrines at 7, 30, 55 and 80 let you swap one face.
- Land on a snake's mouth and a fight opens showing its HP and bite cost.
- Use three strikes. Slay it and it becomes your golden ladder; fail and you slide to its tail.
- Reach square 100 to finish. Faster climbs rank higher on the daily board.
Rules and scoring
- You start with 3 hearts. Snakes with 4 or more HP bite 2 hearts; smaller ones bite 1. Zero hearts ends the run.
- Snake HP by position: 2 below square 30, 3 below 60, 4 below 85, 5 above. The highest snake is always Vasuki.
- Fight faces: 4 to 6 hit once, Fang twice, Jugaad always, 1 to 3 and Leap miss, Lakshmi adds loot, Karma heals.
- Board faces: Fang lunges 4, Jugaad picks 1 to 3, Leap jumps past the next snake mouth, Lakshmi and Karma move 2. Full hearts with no revive earns a Flawless badge.
Tips to score higher
- Read the Next strip before rolling. If the next face hits a snake and the following two are 1 and 2, that fight is already lost.
- Swap low numbers first; Fang and Jugaad make every snake beatable.
- Keep a Leap by mid-board. It is the only face that skips a snake mouth, and the guardian near 94 has 5 HP.
- Use Jugaad to land exactly on a ladder bottom or shrine, not only to dodge snakes.
- Karma heals only below full hearts, so do not spend it in a fight at 3 hearts.
- At 2 hearts, avoid any 4 or 5 HP mouth unless the preview shows three sure hits.
Modes and challenges
- Daily Climb: one seeded board per date, one attempt, time ranking, daily streak and ad-based extra tries.
- Free Climb: a new board every run with the same shrine and fight rules.
- Challenge A Friend: share the seed so someone climbs the identical board and compares time.
Frequently asked questions
What happens on a snake?
A fight starts using your next three faces as strikes. Win and the snake becomes your ladder; lose and you slide to its tail and lose hearts.
Which faces hit in a fight?
4, 5 and 6 hit once, Fang twice, Jugaad always. 1, 2, 3 and Leap miss. Lakshmi and Karma give loot or healing instead.
Can I replay the Daily?
One try per day, with extra tries through ads. Free Climb is unlimited.
Is the board random?
It is seeded and always valid, with shrines fixed at 7, 30, 55 and 80. The daily seed is the date, so everyone shares that board.
